Yes, it has been proposed that his wife died, or that she moved away to another territory with the children, if they had children; we do not even know that Peter had children, because there is nothing in the Bible about him having a son. This is an indication of how the Bible is written. It is not like a soap opera that goes into the personal lives of its characters and shows all their hobbies; the Bible is only interested in the redemptive, soteriological aspect of its characters, or in their sins, especially in the Old Testament.
