Flood and Tower of BabelAnswered

Do the 'giants' of Genesis 6 mean the reported giant skeletons and Nephilim?

A viewer asks about reported giant human skeletons the Smithsonian supposedly confiscated, the elongated skulls in Peru, and the giant of Kandahar, and whether these could be Nephilim.

Answer

It is possible, but what I do not like is when people take Genesis 6, where it says there were giants in those days, men of renown, and use it to claim these were nine-foot-tall people. I do not see that as the best interpretation. What Genesis 6 is talking about with the 'giants' and 'people of name' are the big, famous people of the day, like the baseball, football, and hockey players, the Olympians, the Michael Jordans and Tom Bradys of the world, men of renown. And the people of the world are corrupt, all after money, sex, and position, and do not know God from a hole in the ground, which is the point Genesis 6 is making. There may be actual giants somewhere, because just as there are huge dinosaurs alongside little ones, you get variations in the genome that produce some very big people, but whether that is related to the Bible is a stretch, so I would be very careful going down that path.
