How do I work with grace to fight against the urges of the body?

A viewer asks how to work with grace to fight against the urges of the body.

Answer

This is as hard as anything could be, and most people who go to confession will confess one of those two sins, food or sex, because both give us pleasure and our lustful body seeks pleasure. God says, I know I made you a sexual being, but I gave you the power to control it, and I would not have made you that way unless I knew you could; you are not an animal, you are above them. I could not create a world unless I gave you sexual urges, so I am depending on you to put the limit on them so that we can all survive, because if a society goes to either extreme it falls apart, as Arnold Toynbee showed in the rise and fall of civilizations. God has given you the power to fight it; you either do not know it, forgot it, or do not want to know it because you are enjoying your sin. The only way out is to get on your knees and pray, Lord, you want me not to do this, so let me see that power, please give it to me, and God will give it to you. Once you get used to using it, it becomes old hat.
