Judaism and ChristianityAnswered

If the Old Testament Hebrews fulfilled their purpose by bringing forth the Messiah, what purpose do modern Jews serve?

A viewer asks what purpose, if any, modern Jews serve in salvation now that the Old Testament Hebrews have brought forth the Messiah, and whether God allows them to exist for a purpose or they are simply in rebellion by their own free will.

Answer

Well, as Augustine said, one reason why the Jews are still here is because they prove that they existed in the Old Testament. They're not a... That's what a lot of Bible scholars tell us about the Old Testament. It's just made up. Well, here's one that they can't do away with: the Jews. They weren't made up. So every story you read, as a matter of fact, that's why St. Paul said the Old Testament is as big as it is. In 1 Corinthians chapter 10, verses 6 to 11, he says the reason these stories were written in the Old Testament is so that you who are very near the end of time and the return of Christ will have fruitful and helpful witness of what God did to those in the Old Testament who disobeyed Him. Because that's not a fantasy either. And that's why I write it to you. He really doesn't like sin, does He? And He will punish you and it will be severe. That's what you get when you read the Old Testament. That this God is serious. You don't mess around with Him. So that's the main reason. Then the second reason is there are some Jews that are really good people and they really want to be saved. This was true back in the Old Testament. Paul says, in Elijah's time, 800 BC, God told him, I have 7,000 who have not bowed the knee to the devil. And it doesn't matter to me how many Jews there are. And at that time, in Elijah's day, there were between five and 10 million Jews. God was happy with the 7,000 that didn't bow the knee to the devil. As long as He had some, He was happy. And those Jews were very happy to follow God. And they're just like us. Same heart, same will, same desire to know Jesus Christ and to live with Him forever. And that's going to continue until Jesus Christ returns. There are Jews that are going to be saved, become Christians. They're going to realize that it's useless to seek for the old covenant, the Mosaic covenant, like they're trying to do today, trying to make themselves something. Trying to say that now they deserve all the land in Palestine and they want Greater Israel because they're Jews and they're special people. No. They're just fooling themselves. But there are a lot of Jews today. Well, I shouldn't say a lot. It's never a lot. It's not going to be a lot in our day. Some. And that's what we're hoping for, okay? So even today, until the end of time, they serve a purpose in being the people that God, according to Psalm 139, knew when they were in the womb. God knew you before you were born. And those people still have to be born. And some of them are Jews.
