Is God the Father the father of Jesus, or is the Holy Spirit, since the Spirit came upon Mary?

That is a great question, and I know you ask it because the Holy Spirit is the one who came upon Mary and impregnated her, as Luke tells us, not the Father. We have to keep some distinction among the persons of the Trinity, so what the Holy Spirit did is not simply what the Father did; and yet the Holy Spirit does nothing without the consent of the Father and the Son. So the way to put it is that the Father worked through the Holy Spirit to bring about the conception, but it was the Father who originated the whole thing, and in the technical sense the Father is still the father of Jesus; the Holy Spirit is not presumed to take over that role, although He too is God and works with the Father to accomplish what the Father wants. Scripture maintains that the Father always was, is, and will be the father, and the Holy Spirit is the coordinating aspect of what the Father wants accomplished.
