Why are men not as loyal as women?

A viewer asks why men are not as loyal as women.

Answer

Well, I'd have to question your premise. You're assuming as your premise that men are not as loyal as women. I don't think I would make that judgment. I would say they're both disloyal; they both have a problem with being loyal. At this point in time in our society, I would say there's a little difference, because the latest stat on divorce is that 70 percent of them are caused by women, for one reason or another, infidelity being one of the top reasons. And that's because we have a lot of women in the workforce now who mingle with men all day long and are not home taking care of their children. That's a major reason why women are filing for divorce over men. So that would mean women, at least in this particular study, are more disloyal than men are. Now, you may be able to find another section of history where the men are more disloyal than the women, and I'm sure there is such a section of history where that's true. But today, if you want to ask why 70 percent of divorces in the United States are pursued by women, I would say that's because they're more disloyal at this section of time. But I hate to get into these questions about the sexes, because invariably you're going to offend one sex or the other, and I don't want to do that unless I have enough room to expand the conversation, where everybody understands that this is not to offend anybody. And it's not saying that we even know the answers. It's just that you see trends in society and you're trying to answer why the trend is the way it is. You may be right, you may be wrong. But the trend is definitely there, and it's always our curiosity to see if we can fix it. And if you want to fix it, you have to know what's going on, and what's going on is a lot harder to figure out than we would normally think.
