Why don't you defend the Traditional Latin Mass with the same energy you give to other issues?

I see what you are saying about the Novus Ordo and the relaxation of rules. This is something the Church had to gamble with: when you give people freedom, will they be responsible with it or take advantage of it? It is like dealing with a teenager. God did the same thing with Israel in the Old Testament; the more freedom he gave them, the more they abused it, as you see all through the Book of Judges. So I agree the experiment with the world turned out not to be in our favor; we tried to cozy up to the world, and whenever they could, they spit in our face. The one thing I will say honestly is this: as a child of six or seven sitting in a Latin Mass in the early 1960s, I would be there the whole hour not knowing what the priest was saying or how he was praying, and I did not get much out of it. Then, reading the Bible, I saw that at Pentecost the Holy Spirit came and everyone heard the gospel preached in their own language, because out of the fifteen nations present only one or two would have understood Hebrew or Latin. In 1 Corinthians 14 Paul says that if an outsider hears you speaking in tongues he will think you are mad and will not come in, but if he hears a language he understands he will come in, bare his heart to God, and become a Christian. So the type of language we use is efficacious for preaching the gospel. In the fourth and fifth century this was not a problem, because everyone spoke Latin; but Latin is now a dead language, so I think the Church had to put the Mass in the vernacular, and we can guard the translation so nobody corrupts it. That is my only gripe; otherwise the reverence of the old Mass is unbeatable, and we should restrict the prerogatives so people cannot take advantage of it and guard that Mass like Fort Knox.
