No one has yet said what gravity actually is. Newton measured how fast the apple falls without explaining why it falls, Einstein supplied a mathematical model of warped spacetime without saying what space is or how it could warp, and Berkeley, Fatio de Duillier, LeSage, Mach and Lorentz each left something unaccounted for. Taking a germinal idea from St. Hildegard of Bingen's Das wahre Weltbild (1163) and working it together with quantum mechanics, Sungenis proposes that space is composed of Planck-dimension particles, a googolplex of tiny blackholes, and that this yields a physical cause for gravity and for inertia, with accounts of action at a distance, entanglement, the anomalous rotation of spiral galaxies, the strong and weak nuclear forces, and why the speed of light is sometimes c and can be exceeded.
