The First Four Days of Creation

Genesis 1 is treated here as a factual, chronological account and read hour by hour, with the Big Bang set aside. The questions are the ones the text itself raises: why God made a great Light on the First Day before the sun and stars on the Fourth, what the firmament is and what Scripture means when it says the heavens are stretched out, how the land was brought up from beneath the water that covered it, and why the Earth can be only a few thousand years old.

Two lines of argument run together through the four days. One is exegetical, working from the Hebrew text, the Church Fathers, and the inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture. The other is scientific: the composition of space, the behavior of water, sedimentation and the geologic column, the five assumptions behind radiometric dating, and the mechanics of a geocentric system. More than seven hundred pictures, with dozens of charts and tables, carry the reconstruction day by day.
