Will the Jews Be Saved Just Before the Return of Christ?

A widespread belief holds that just before Christ returns, all the Jews then living will be saved, and it is almost always drawn from Romans 11:26, "And all Israel will be saved." The reading is mistaken, and this short study traces how it travelled. It begins in pseudepigraphal literature, is taken up in the Premillennial eschatology of some early Fathers, carried inadvertently from there into the Amillennial eschatology of some later Fathers, and continued by certain medieval theologians.

Against that lineage the book sets a grammatical and historical exegesis of Romans 11:26 together with a contextual reading of Romans 9 through 11, and argues that "all Israel" means all the Jews who have been saved since the days of Abraham, not a group alive at the end. If that is right, a future mass conversion is not a precondition of Christ's return. 150 pages.
