Welcome to the real world, Lisa. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, and that is guaranteed; we have the truth in many sources. But the question is whether we are going to obey it, and that is a matter of free will, not a matter of God coming down and forcing the information on us. All he promised was to give us the information. The Church has tilted back and forth on this for the last 2,000 years; we had some real rascals in the last 500 years especially. God takes the horse to water but cannot make it drink, and you get various degrees of obedience from the prelates in each century. When the Church went off the rails, God sent the Muslims after her; you can watch Europe go back and forth over a thousand years. It is just like the time of Israel, which had the word of God and still disobeyed. So this is natural; this is what you would expect. Do not throw up your hands, do not jump off the boat, just accept it as the reality of this world at this time, and it is going to get worse before Jesus returns.
