No. “Q” is a modern academic hypothesis with no manuscript evidence. The early Church Fathers, who knew the apostolic writings firsthand, never mention such a document. The Gospels are independent testimonies that sometimes report the same events with different emphases. Differences in wording or order reflect audience and purpose, not contradiction. The so-called “synoptic problem” arose when scholars began treating the Gospels as human literature instead of inspired revelation. Catholic tradition holds that Scripture is wholly inspired and inerrant. When two accounts differ, the proper approach is harmonization, not skepticism. The assumption that one evangelist copied another reduces divine inspiration to editorial borrowing. The four Gospels are four witnesses guided by the same Spirit.
