Islam and ChristianityAnswered

Muslims are promised 72 virgins in heaven; what do Christians get?

A viewer notes that Islam promises Muslims 72 virgins and wine in heaven, and asks what Christians get in heaven.

Answer

We do not get 72 virgins; we get God himself. You do not hear Muslims going around saying they get Allah, and do you know why? Because Allah is not a personal being; he is just a divine figurehead who issues commands here and there but does not personally care about the Muslims. Did you ever hear Allah say, pray to me and call me 'Our Father who art in heaven'? No, because he is not a father and he is not personal. So as much as the Muslims think about the great Allah, he is impersonal to them; he does not communicate with them, he does not send his son down to pay for their sins. All they have is a book written in 600 AD. That is not a legacy. The Bible, by contrast, starts with Adam and Eve and goes through Abraham and Israel, and God is personal the whole way through; look how he talks to Abraham and calls Moses his friend. So if my religion says that at the end I get God himself, that is the ultimate; I would much rather have God himself than 72 virgins, wouldn't you?
