Occult DangersAnswered

What is the Catholic position on fairies, nymphs, and gremlins, and the claim that they were really aliens?

A viewer, referencing Paul Thigpen's book on extraterrestrials, asks what the position of the Catholic Church is regarding fairies, nymphs, gremlins, and similar beings.

Answer

They do not exist. This comes from Paul Thigpen's book about extraterrestrials, where he makes the argument, silly as it may seem, that all these references we have to nymphs and fairies and gremlins, about twelve of them that we have had, may actually be real, because they were aliens that came from other planets and had these powers that people described but that were not human. That is another problem with this whole alien thing that is bugging me, that he would take that fantasy land of nymphs and fairies and fairy godmothers and make it real by tying it to aliens. This is just absolutely absurd from my vantage point, and I think I speak from a good education and logical sense.
