Why can't VLBI detect the earth's rotation, no matter how many sources it observes?

A viewer asks why, as Sungenis argued in a 2018 debate, relativity does not allow VLBI (very-long-baseline interferometry) to detect the earth's rotation regardless of how many sources it observes.

Answer

Because it is all relative. It is the same reason the relativists cannot tell you whether the earth goes around the sun or the sun around the earth. Any test that comes out positive for you will come out positive for the other side too. It is like stellar parallax: they credit it to the earth revolving around the sun, but if you keep the earth still and move the universe instead, you get exactly the same parallax angle. Newton got a heliocentric system only because he confined his laboratory to the sun and the earth and treated the universe as absolute, infinite and inert. Once you allow the universe to move and be finite, you have a whole different situation, and that universe has a great effect on our little solar system.
