CASB 6: The Gospel of St. John

No Gospel opens the divinity of Christ to us the way John's does, and no volume in this series opens John the way this one does. CASB 6: The Gospel of St. John is the sixth installment of the Catholic Apologetics Study Bible, a series that began publishing in 2003, and it is the most detailed and comprehensive of them yet, running to over 250 pages of verse-by-verse analysis. It goes further into the Greek text than any earlier volume, surfacing spiritual nuances that no English translation and no Catholic commentary now available make visible, so that the reader comes as near as humanly possible to the God-Man living out his life in both his divine and human natures. The exegesis is rich on the theological level and the practical one alike, and it is written to be understood by the ordinary reader.

Seven appendices take up questions raised by the historical study of John's Gospel: the Christological and Trinitarian doctrines of the Church; the doctrine of the Eucharist from John 6:54-58; the inerrancy of Scripture where John appears to conflict with the Synoptics; the sacrament of Confession from John 20:23; and other related topics.
