Does the apostles' grumbling in Matthew 18 about who is greatest prove Peter had no authority?

This is why you can never find a silver bullet, when you get logic like this. This is absurd, because the grumbling comes from jealousy, one-upmanship, an 'I am better than you' mentality. How can that serve as the foundation for why Peter would not be in charge? The facts fit as they appear to us: Peter is given the charge over the apostles in Matthew 16 by being given the keys, and no other apostle is given the keys. That means he is the chief apostle. The other apostles may have the same prerogative to loose and to bind, but the one with the keys is the one in charge, and he overrides any decision they make, so he is in charge. If you are a virtuous, knowledgeable, wise man you are going to accept what Jesus gave to Peter and thank him: thank you, Jesus, for taking one of us to be the absolute leader and to make the final decision on things we inevitably disagree about. So that would be the opposite of what this man told you.
