A geocentrist arguing that the Earth is a globe is not the pairing most people expect, and it is the reason this book exists. The claim that the Earth is a flat disc under a solid dome deserves an actual answer rather than mockery, and the answer has to come from somebody who is not simply defending the consensus.
The historical half traces the idea to Samuel Rowbotham in the 1840s and the zetetic method he invented, which admits only what a man can verify with his own eyes and therefore rules out refraction and the mathematics of the horizon, the two things that explain most of what flat-earthers point at.
The scientific half works through star trails, lunar eclipses, stellar parallax and aberration, the analemma, the seasons, Antarctic sunlight, and the cases usually offered as proof: the Bedford Level experiment, the Lake Pontchartrain causeway and the Chicago skyline photographs. The biblical half takes the firmament of Genesis 1:6, the Hebrew raqiya, and what the Fathers of the Church actually taught about it.
