Is Israel still God's favorite people? No, because God has no favorite people. Paul says in Romans 2 that God is no respecter of persons, and that chapter is about Jews and Gentiles; almost the whole of Romans is an indictment against the Jews for thinking they are God's people just because they are sons of Abraham. Paul says that unless you live by faith as Abraham did, you take no credit from Abraham. Will God make them a great nation again? No; they were already a great nation and flubbed it twice, with the Assyrians and then the Babylonian captivity, and when Jesus died on the cross the old covenant was rescinded and their time as the official representative of God was over. The New Testament Church replaced them, which is why we have a pope from the Gentiles and go to Rome, not Jerusalem. Will they convert en masse before the end? No. That is a myth, started long ago by Catholics who did not read their Bible carefully. God gave the Jews the only thing he could give them, Jesus Christ, and they rejected him. Only the remnant who believe in Christ are saved, not because they are Jewish.
